Enhanced Mental Health and Addictions Team

Hanover School Division was selected alongside Portage la Prairie and Brandon School Divisions to introduce an intersectoral collaboration between service providers addressing student mental health.

This program consists of representatives from Southern Health – Santé Sud, Shared Health, and Hanover School Division. The initial pilot was overseen by Manitoba Education: Inclusion Support Branch.

The EMHA team is designed to provide interventions to Hanover School Division/Southern Health – Santé Sud students and families. The team consists of a Hanover School Social Worker providing WrapAround services, a Shared Health Rehabilitation Counsellor, and a Southern Health Psychiatric Nurse. The team consults and provides direct services for students ages 12 and up with mental health and addictions needs, above and beyond the services presently in place.

The team reviews referrals when gaps and/or barriers to services exist for students, or integrated and enhanced services are required. All services are voluntary and the student/family can take a break or end services at any time.
