Hanover School Division Clinicians offer a variety of workshops to staff and students, one such workshop is on Autism Acceptance and Awareness. The purpose of this presentation is to educate students on the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges of autistic children. Following the presentation, there will be an exercise called ‘the silent sundae bar’ that aims to show peers through the use of non-verbal communication, what it can be like to live with Autism. The hope is that through further education and awareness, students can understand, empathize and support their autistic peers.

Presenters: Stacey Marcoux, SLP; Amanda Matheson, BSW; and Jaclyn Despins, OT.
